FAQs
If you have questions that are not answered below, please contact the Youth Department at (402) 334-6409. We look forward to assisting you with all of your needs.
Q: Do I have to be Jewish to participate in programs or to become a JCC Member?
A: No. Our programs and membership are open to the entire community.
Q: Do you have to be a JCC Member to participate in Summer Camp and Youth Programming?
A: It depends on the program. Some programs are open to both members and non members. Member and Non Member pricing will be listed on programs that are open accordingly. For programs that are offered to both, JCC members receive a discounted registration rate. If you want to be a member, please contact Member Services at (402)334-6426 for more information.
Q: Can Non Members attend a “Birthday at the J”?
A: Yes. The only person that will need to be a member is the family giving the party. Learn more…
Q: What happens when schools are closed for snow or cold weather? Will you have programming?
A: When school is closed due to inclement weather, we will do our best to have programming! (The exception would be if the JCC itself closes due to weather). Kids should pack a dairy or non-meat lunch, drink, swimsuit, and warm clothes in case we go outside! Please note that drop off begins at 7:30 a.m. to allow our staff extra time to safely arrive at the JCC during inclement conditions. Learn more…
Q: Do I have to fill out a new health form each year?
A: Yes. We do need an up-to-date Health form on file each year. Contact the Youth Department for an updated form.
Q: What does it mean when it says, “bring a dairy lunch”?
A: Good Question! Since we are the Jewish Community Center we do not allow meat to be brought into the facility unless it is catered by Star Catering. Some of our members keep Kosher and the mixing of dairy and meat is not allowed. In order to make sure that it does not happen at any level, we are a meat free environment unless it is catered by a specialist in the area that follows all of the guidelines related to being Kosher. If you are interest in finding out more about keeping Kosher there are many websites that can be helpful.
Q: Can I just drop in the day of the program?
A: It is always a good idea to register early since some of the activities do become full or limited space available. We would not recommend that you drop in without calling to see if we are full for the day. Our goal is to let as many children as we can participate, however, we also want to make sure that we have enough staff and space.
